"Benefits and Employment in 2018" Workshop

  • Bay Equity Home Loans 1819 K Street, Suite 200 Sacramento, CA, 95811 United States (map)

Sacramento Autistic Spectrum and Special Needs Alliance (SASSNA) is excited to be hosting "Benefits and Employment in 2018", an all-day workshop on November 15th in Sacramento taught by Michael Walling, M.Ed., covering Medi-Cal, Medicare, Social Security, and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) that provides the core information needed to assist a beneficiary in financial planning and benefit management.

Michael Walling, M.Ed., is the author of The Guide: To Social Security Programs and Work Incentives, 24th Edition, 2016, and other publications and webinars on Social Security Administration (SSA) benefits. He is highly regarded for his ability to explain this subject in “plain English” and to teach this subject to beneficiaries and professional novices. Michael currently consults with a variety of states and organizations on benefit counseling services, employment services, medical benefits, and related matters. He travels throughout the country to provide workshops to state agencies and organizations. He integrates into his workshops his prior experience as a special education teacher, a director of a large vocational program, and his daily assistance to individuals and families.

Some (there are more) of the topics that will be addressed in the workshop are:

  • How will the new medical criteria for mental disorders (mental illness, intellectual disability, autism) affect new applicants and current beneficiaries?

  • How to manage benefits to avoid the loss of medical benefits.

  • When can work incentives reduce the amount of income SSA counts?

For complete information about the workshop, including registration, please view this document file.

Please note that there is a fee paid to Mr. Walling to attend the workshop. For those that want to attend the workshop but are unable to afford the fee, SASSNA has a limited number of free seats available. To request a free seat please e-mail Dave Gaines at SASSNA at dgaines@sassna.orgIf you are granted a free seat then you do not need to complete the regular registration process.
